Post-Con Post: Part II

(for Tumblr types, click the title to read the full post)

Day one of Comic-Con didn't go quite as well as we would have liked. I actually shot some short videos of Mike and myself at the beginning and end of the day, so I thought I'd share them with you as opposed to wasting the internet's precious time with my text.

Fortunately, Mike and I were able to take what we learned on Day One and use it to our advantage on Day Two. In the end, we split our time between hanging around and waiting to get our book reviewed by various groups and studios (the most prestigious of which was cartoon network) and walking the floor seeking out artists, publishers, and editors who would be willing to either take our book as a submission, or simply look it over.

At the end of the second day, our spirits had been lifted somewhat. Several of the people (all important artist-types) who looked at the book really seemed to enjoy the style and layout of it. We spent pretty much all of the third day handing out books to people, and collecting snippets of feedback from anyone who would give it.

Our original goal was to spend all four days at the convention, but at the end of the third, we felt we had done all we could. We handed out about seventy books over the course of the Con, and learned a whole lot about comics, the comic book industry, and just the "bizz" in general.

I feel like I've made this Convention out to seem totally not fun. Please not that this is not true! In my next post, I'll explore the lighter side of Comic-Con. Expect many more videos and pictures. We're only just beginning.
